Reminders: Mardi Gras Theme & Age Group/Makeup Pictures

Two separate reminders.

First reminder, our theme for this Saturday's meet with the Woodcreek Seawolves is Mardi Gras Time! Put on your Mardi Gras beads or wear a fun and funky Mardi Gras mask. Get in the spirit and perhaps share some beads with your swim buddy? The Woodcreek Seawolves have been contacted and invited to also share in the festivities, and all that jazz...

Second reminder, Monday June 5th is our Sugarbears Age Group Swim Pictures and Individual Make Up Pictures with Spectrum Photography at Oakmont. Schedule for pictures are as follows:
  • 6-8 years @ 5:15pm
  • 13-18 years @ 5:45pm
  • 9-12 years @ 6pm

Swimmers: Please do not be late if you want to be in your age group photo.

If you have any questions please contact Carmen Morel @ 662-4300 or leave a message in the Morel Family folder on the pool deck.

Fireworks Booth Signups

Our deadline for fireworks signups is this Saturday, June 3rd. If you have yet to signup for a three hour shift, please do so this week! Any unassigned Sugarbear shifts after this Saturday become available for the Woodcreek Seawolves to fill.

Details, including the signup form can be found on our website on the "Fireworks" page under "Ways and Means". A printed form will also be at the Oakmont pool next to the family folders this week.

For those who have not worked the booth before, this is our #1 fundraiser. Take a look at our financial page. It is also a great and fun way to meet other swim parents.

Besides shifts, there are "Day Captain" positions. Day Captains assist with shift changes and assignments. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Volunteer Clinics this week at the RAC

Tuesday, May 23rd. Starters at 6:00pm. Stroke & Turn clinic at 6:30pm.
Monday, May 22nd. Computer Ops training at 6:30pm.

Clinics will be held at the Roseville Aquatic Complex (RAC) this week in the evenings.
Our swim team could especially benefit by having more parents trained and certified for Stroke and Turn.
The more trained, the easier on our entire volunteer staff. The extra personal added benefit is knowing the proper strokes and turns to assist your swimmer and being able to recognize and explain a disqualification (DQ).
Stroke and Turn training normally includes a short video demonstrating and explaining the strokes/turns, common illegal mistakes, followed by open questions/answers and a live demonstration.
It is a very easy, quick and enjoyable clinic.
Even if a parent is not sure if they are brave enough or willing to be a stroke and turn judge, attending the stroke and turn clinic is highly recommended and appreciated.

Our very own starter, Pete Hradecky, will be providing the training for the starters.

Hope to see you on the pool deck of the RAC!

Swim Pictures Saturday May 20th before Time Trials

Sugarbears Swim Pictures will be held Saturday May 20th.

Photographers from Spectrum Photography will be set up at the pool and need to start individual swimmers' photos @ 7:30 am sharp in order to ensure that our Time Trials start (and end!) at a reasonable time.

We are asking all swimmers who want to have individual pictures taken to line up, with their completed order form and payment outside the fence behind Oakmont Pool's bleachers. Order forms were put in parent folders. Extra forms will be in the Morel Family folder if you did not receive an order form. Feel free to help yourself.

No swimmers or parents will be allowed inside the pool while we are taking pictures to ensure that we have nice background pool image and not a bunch of folks walking past. After their picture has been taken, swimmers need to stay out of immediate pool area directly in front of coaches room again to minimize potential of folks being in pictures background. As well, no swimmers will be allowed in the pool during picture time. We will have 3 photographers taking pictures by the pool and if we can get lined up and have order forms completed, should go very quickly and smoothly.

The goal is for all individual swimmers pictures to be completed within 45 minutes. Again, need to ensure that pictures are not holding up the start time of Time Trials.

Once all individual pictures have been taken, Spectrum will take our Sugarbears Team (all swimmers) picture on the bleachers. Swimmers, please make sure that you are in the area behind the bleachers (outside of gate) so that we can get everyone quickly lined up for entire Team photo.

Lastly, individual age/gender team photos as well as make up photos will be take place on Monday June 5th during the following times: 6-8 years @ 5:15pm; 13-18 years @ 5:45pm; 9-12 years 6pm. Swimmers please be on time for your individual time pictures.

Pictures should be available within 10 days and will be placed in parent envelopes. REMEMBER: Orders are prepaid at time of pictures (May 20th payment includes age/gender team photos if ordered). CASH OR CHECK ONLY; NO CREDIT CARDS CAN BE ACCEPTED.
