This Saturday against the Davis AquaMonsters perhaps cannot be considered the Big Easy, but it is our Mardi Gras theme celebration at our final home meet of the seaon. Look for some beads and masks to be distributed out to our swimmers. Feel free to come additionally prepared with some face painting, or by sporting a festive hat.

Sugarbears are clearly gaining momentum as we approach our first NorCal League Championship meet within the Gold Rush Conference. Championship meet is Saturday and Sunday (July 25th and 26th) in Davis. Our Sugarbear website has additional information posted concerning rules, order of events, etc. Some key things to be aware of from the information.

Parking at Davis costs $6 and it is recommended to bring exact change to help speed up the process. Also, please be aware of the following rules:

  • No Dogs

Please note that the facility at Davis have excellent stands and that champs will be ran as a Closed Deck. You must have a deck pass to be allowed on the deck. One more excellent reason to sign up as a volunteer. Besides timing, shifts include Deck Patrol. Our on-line volunteer system has been updated and configured with the available shifts needed for Champs. Volunteer on-line or manually on our pool deck with a Sign Up Sheet.

Note that Deck Patrol is a new task type, so if you are interested in volunteering on-line, please first use the Edit Volunteer to mark this as a task you are willing to perform, prior to assigning yourself to a particular shift.

Pirate Theme Tent Decorating Contest & Recycling Thank you!

Hi Sugarbear Families,

We wanted to let you know that the theme for this Saturday's meet will be "Pirates".

The meet is happening on 7/11/09 at our very own Oakmont Pool. All family tents & team tents are encouraged to participate by decorating according to the pirate theme. The more tents that are decorated, the more team spirit we show! One winner will be chosen.

Along the same lines, be sure to dress the part by wearing your pirate gear... eye patches, jewels, vests, etc. We just ask that our maties leave their toy swords at home. On this Friday, 7/10/09, as part of Fun Fridays we will be passing out pirate tattoos. Be sure to get your tattoo at practice and wear it to the meet.

Thank you to all Sugarbears for using Recycling Bins at the pool. They are filling up thanks to you. We have heard that some kids are in charge of bringing their family's recyclables to the pool, so we are getting bagfuls...a great way to involve the kids in this community service/team fundraiser. It is perfectly fine to drop bags off & we''ll be sure to turn them in. Keep up the great work!!

Go Sugarbears!
