VFCAL End of Season Meeting

Carmen Morel attended a VFCAL End of Season Meeting on September 13, 2005. Click here to view the meeting notes. The Sugarbears want to keep the communication open to our swim families. The notes are a bit cryptic, so if you have any raised issues or concerns, please contact one of our board members. Carmen has briefed Pete Hradecky, Michael Taylor and Mickey Langley on the meeting. Also, no specific decisions were made at the meeting. It is not clear to our board, when and how decisions are made, so we are checking on clarification.

OHS Swim Coach, Curt Altschul, in critical, but stable condition

Oakmont Swim Coach, Curt Altschul, had an accident involving a car on Wednesday while riding his bicycle to school. He is still in CCU but listed in stable condition. His injuries include a broken sternum, ribs and two collapsed lungs. Several of our Sugarbear teens have been coached by Curt, where his 20+ years of coaching experience has proven remarkeable results. He recently had posted a very nice message to our website's guest book. Our thoughts and prayers are with Coach Curt. Feel free to post a "Get Well" message to this posting.

Meeting with City of Roseville

Pete Hradecky, Carmen Morel and Michael Taylor met with the City of Roseville management; David Mickaelian, Alexa Pritchard and our League Rep, Carolynne Bottum, on August 31st. No major issues were needing to be discussed, but just an open communication on recapping this past summer's success and what we can do to even further improve the program. The City plans to increase the level of communication with the Sugarbear Board, by meeting on a quarterly basis. If a swim family has any topic of concern, please do not hesitate by calling or emailing one of the Sugarbear board members.
